Lydia Ko Wins 2nd LPGA Major with ANA Inspiration

Lydia Ko - Youngest to Ever Win 2 LPGA Majors

Lydia Ko of New Zealand became the youngest player to win two LPGA major championships when she clinched the ANA Inspiration by one stroke at Mission Hills on Sunday.

The 18-year-old world finished with a three-under par 69 in Rancho Mirage, CA to finish at a 12-under 276. The win was her second successive major title after winning the Evian Championship last year.

Said Ko, “It was always my dream to play on the LPGA. Just being here is a dream come true. For these amazing things to be happening is unbelievable but it also motivates me to work harder. This has been a long week and I’m proud I was able to make those clutch putts, especially on the back nine.”

Ko was coming off a win at last week’s Kia Classic and scored her 12th LPGA Tour victory with a one-foot birdie putt. She was bogey free through the final round and managed to maintain a one shot lead.

And she did take the traditional leap into Poppie’s Pond next to the 18th green along with her mother, sister, caddie and her caddie’s fiancee.
