18 Year Old Brooke Henderson Wins the KPMG in a Playoff

Meet Brooke Henderson - Winner of the KPMG PGA Womens Championship

On the playoff hole, the ball left the face of the 7-iron of Brooke Henderson to cover 158 yards. It stopped three feet from the hole.

Moments after world No. 1 Lydia Ko missed a 12-foot putt in a playoff for the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, Brooke Henderson rolled her birdie putt home and owned what is perhaps the second biggest victory in Canadian golf history at the Major in Sammamish, Washington.

She hugged Ko and her sister Brittany, her caddie, and were doused with water by fellow Canadian players.

Said Henderson, “This might be like winning the Stanley Cup for me - this or Olympic gold - this will do for now."

Henderson becomes the second youngest player to win a women’s major behind the 19-year-old Ko.

Continued Henderson, “It was a pretty good day for me. I really didn’t feel a ton of pressure or nerves, which was the key to me shooting six under in the final round. Definitely in my dreams I didn’t know if winning a major would come true. I’m speechless.”

Concluded Henderson, “That drive on the playoff hole was really big, especially after in regulation I had hit it through - and my new putter? I love that thing.”

Henderson is expected to move to No. 2 in the world rankings.
