Team USA Wins the UL International Crown by 1

Cristie Kerr sealed the deal for the United States when she held on for a 3-and-2 victory over Melissa Reid on Sunday to give the Americans the UL International Crown title on the LPGA Tour.

Said Kerr, "I think I play better when there is more pressure."

Kerr and her team mates were shut out on Thursday, but picked up the pace over the weekend. Stacy Lewis and Gerina Piller each closed out wins along with a victory from Kerr.

Said Lewis, "To be called the best golfing nation I think is pretty satisfying."

Kerr and Lexi Thompson teamed up for wins on Friday and Saturday, carrying the momentum over into singles matches.

Said Piller, whose husband Martin plays the PGA Tour, "Coming into this week, everyone was playing really well, and for us to be paired with the people we played at Solheim, I think that's been a huge help in the success that we've had in that just gives us extra confidence."

The U.S. Team won a silver trophy and bragging rights . . . . each of the players took home a crown and $100,000 apiece.

South Korea, which was the top seeded team at the event, finished second, one back of the United States with a 12.
