8th hole - Favorite in RIO - 2 holes in one in the 3rd round

The aces just keep coming at the Rio Olympics. World No. 1 Lydia Ko drained her tee shot on the short par-3 8th during Friday's third round at the women's competition, just hours after China's Xiyu Lin aced the same hole. It was her first hole in one ever.

Friday was not the first time the inviting par 3 surrendered a hole-in-one. In last week's men's event, Justin Rose, before going on to win gold, christened the hole with its first ace, a feat later matched by Jaco Van Zyl of South Africa.

That makes four in-competition aces at the 8th hole through six-and-a-half rounds.

"In competition" is an important phrase, because current leader Inbee Park also dunked one on 8 during a practice round earlier this week.

In round 3, China's Xi Yu Lin hits a hole-in-one on the 8th hole, followed by New Zealand's Lydia Ko, who also records a hole-in-one on the same hole later in the day.
