Bubba Watson - Winner of The Northern Open Trust with 15-under |
Kidney stone or not, Bubba Watson's 15-under was good enough to give him his second win at The Northern Trust Open and his first win spanning 42 tournaments in more than 2 years plus a $1.2 million paycheck.
Watson rallied with two late birdies and closed with a 3-under 68 on Sunday to finish and hold the lead.
He trailed Jason Kokrak by two shots with four holes to play at Riviera. Kokrak was going for his first PGA Tour victory and made bogey on the 15th while struggling to par the next two holes.
Watson made a 5-foot birdie putt on the 16th, two-putted for birdie on the 17th and closed with a par for his one-shot victory.
It was Watson’s ninth win of his PGA Tour career and goes back to No. 4 in the world ranking.
The shot of the day may very well have been made by Adam Scott who holed a chip for birdie on the 18th and closed with a 67 to tie Kokrak for second.
The best shot of the tournament came from Ryan Moore who made hole-in-one on 16 and finished tied for 10th.
